Well the Springfield show came and has gone. We did not show at that show due to not having the funds. However we did attend the show and cleared our barn out for the mot part for winter time.

A huge accomplishment. I sold "BriarWoods Fancy Pants" at the Springfield show November 9th 2009, to a fellow breeder and friend Tiffany Ballweg. She at the Springfield show entered "BriarWoods Fancy Pants" into the show, and with a around of applause, "Fancy Pants" took a BOV that very same day as a Senior Doe, in Open Class. I am super excited that Tiffany got this win for many, many reason's! 1.) This doe was from my first ever litter of blacks, 2.) This doe was shown in open again some very, very nice solid black breeders, and 3.) This is my first home grown animal in a competitive color to win a leg so high!

Here at BriarWoods we have won several legs, but all for our early herd of Red Mini Rex. At this time I would also like to congratulate Helene and Katie Crotau from Katie's Country Cuties Rabbitry for their success with a BriarWoods Red doe who is named "BriarWoods Kasper". Katie and Helene have had "BriarWoods Kasper", since Febuary of 2009, and since they have owned her they have also been able to show her some more, and get her a total of 3 legs(plus the 1 I got her), and granded before turning her into a brood doe.

We love hearing from the ones who bought from us, so please, if you have animals from us, feel free to send us an email and let me know how they are doing, and if you have gotten legs on them, or their off spring. Picture's are also welcome!

We have been busy... too busy.

Posted at 05:08 PM on September 06, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Hello!

It?s been a while since I have updated the blog. So I will shed some light!

We have been BUSY! Lol :P

Summer has come and gone and we had a good run at Union County Fair! We took Reserve Champion with Tarmans Pub who is now living with some friends and going to work for them!

Thanks to a few people who have bought from us this summer! Betty, Amy, Andi, Tryacie and Dave, I hope our animals produce nicely for you guys! Keep my posted! Tiffany, I hope little Rex is a good boy for you! ? Enjoy him!

We have a bunch of bouncy babies in the barn, and are breeding more doe?s. We have gotten some nice litters over the summer, and are ready to breed those summer babies and get something from them a little nicer! ? We have been busy pairing everyone up.

We welcomed Rogers Rave, and Rogers Hope Floats to our barn in August, thanks to Amber Hart for this great pair!

We also just added Rogers Vegan Diet, and Kelly?s Sage both being Castor doe?s to the barn. Both are going to be nice addition, and make some pretty babies from Rogers Mile High or BriarWoods Auron!

BriarWoods started slowly with some nice stock, and are adding some nicer animals to our own stuff over a little time. We finally have a Castor Jr. Buck from our own stock that I totally love, and he will be used with a lot of our stuff this fall, and next spring.

We also have a Black Jr. Buck from our stock that I adore and I plan to use him for a fair amount of breeding this fall and next spring.

We are culling hard, and I am striving to keep the ideal Mini Rex in my head when picking my breeding, and picking animals to add into my herd.

We fixed our shoulder problem fairly quick with ?Rogers Mile High?, sadly though he didn?t bring in short ears, or full Hind Quarters, luckily we already had those two qualities on most our doe?s, so we got some babies on both ends of those two scales.

I am being very picky in what I am keeping, and I am making sure I never have any less than 10 open holes. I want to breed for quality not quantity, and keeping cages clear, and not used helps me keep in mind that I must not breed unless I feel it?s a very good match, and will take me further in my herd?s development.

As you can tell, I have been making some large adjustments to how I am operating around here. I am hoping these adjustments will get me some higher placements, and take my herd up a few levels much faster.

Any suggestions to help? I am open to ideas! Email me to chat if you like!

This was a large update. I will try to update you all more often in smaller amounts. Thanks for sticking with us!

See ya?ll at the shows!

Hey,

So I realize it's been a looong time! Terribly sorry about that! Anyways, BriarWoods Rabbitry has been buzzing about with many many things. I will start from the top and my last post,  that only seems proper, right? Alright, shall we begin.

1) We have passed many Holiday, I hope everyone had some good ones. Easter is in just a week now, so I pray everyone has a safe trip to and  from the place's they may be going. I hope everyone can enjoy this beautiful day that the Lord has given us!

2) It has been rather cold the past few days, but was rather warm before that. We have been doing some major chores, cleaning cages, the tables, ect. Stuff that needs washed, and bleached is whats being done on the warm days. So far thats been put on hold.

We all made it fine through the cold, a little bumps and bruise's, but all is well on the "farm".

3) We went to a show in early Febuary, Lima Ohio was  the county. It was rather unsuccessful. Although we had a lot of fun seeing some old friends, and meeting some new people. At this show we aquired our darling Tarmans Buck who is named Pub. We just love him to death, he is sweet and a nice typey rabbit. He just needs to grow a little more, he is a tiny fella. We also picked up our loverly new and 1st Broken Black Otter BSR's 3 Dots. Who we also love very much, and will be a great match with Pub!

4) We not too long after the Lima show bought some other rabbits. We welcomed Rogers Mile High, a very nice Castor buck from a great friend Amber Hart of Whitehart Rabbitry sold him to me. She also sold me a nice Castor doe, Martins Ginger, and a nice Broken Black Doe, Martins Shesta(See litters page for her kits). All are great addtions to our barn and I am very glad to have them!!

5) WE HAVE LITTERS!!! Due to the cold all the other kits we had passed in Janurary. However since then we have had 3 litters who are all a week old at the moment. So watch for them on the tables in a few months. All the kits are from my 2 new bucks, so I am extremely exited to see what the look like crossed with my doe's!!

6) The puppy from Thanksgiving is doing well, growing nicely, and enjoying the out doors. She and the older dog Lily are soon going to get a page of their own! So look for that

7) I have yet again updated the site. The layout and the color have changed some, due to a friend pointing out a spelling mistake I made in gimp. You know who you are, Thanks a bunch! I have also redone a fair amount of the picture's!

8) Soon to be coming and you should look forward to are Chickens, homing doves, and cavies at BriarWoods!

I think thats all for now. This was a rather large update. Make sure to check out our pages to see the new animals and new pictures of our old animals!!

Thanks for stopping bye, we love you,

It's been a while...

Posted at 08:27 PM on December 28, 2008 Comments comments (0)

So November has come and gone, and although it seems like Turkey day was just yesterday it was infact 1 month ago! Christmas just passed! I hope everyone had a safe. happy, and blessed holiday! I know I did! smile Anyways on to the farm.

BriarWoods has been slow recently. We have not had any litters for almost 3 months sad We really are trying hard to get 7 of our doe's bred. But NO ONE is interested. Even though yesterday it was about 65 Degree's out! No body was in the mood sad So we at least have the 5 little Jr's to maybe choose from in the spring. Not to mention a few Sr's, I got 2 bucks at least! I am in LOVE with the Castor Buck I hope to have hit the table's in the spring!!

Everyone is doing fine, we are making it through this cold so far. We are crossing our fingers for an easy winter with full box's. Only one seems to be working out for us so far! Lol :P

Great News! BriarWoods 4 days before ThanksGiving added a new addition to the farm! It's a beautiful Toy Fox Terrier Puppy! She is my first puppy! I love her so much already, Fern is what we have called her! She is welcomed buy our other family dog Lily, who just so happens to be Ferns Aunt! We got them both from the same breeder. Lily is just 4 years old! But I think they can still tell they are related some how. Lily went from being very mean to the puppy, to now being semi protective over her! I am glad  they are finally starting to get along!

Ok back on track, rabbits! :P We showed well at the last show, don't know if I posted that already!

MAJOR NEWS!- I have  redone almost every page on the site, the only one that NOT redone are the Guest Book Page. I added a Mini Rex Bucks page. We just have too many doe's to keep the on the same page. I also added in the "Color Seperater" thingy. Not a big deal, just might make it easier for those who don't know the Mini Rex colors by sight. So take a look over all the page's, leave comments on the guest book, and I will also make a poll on the "FOR SALE" page along with a "Comment" box. So please feel free to leave likes and dislikes on them. Thanks!

Well I really cannot think of what else is going on, I think that is it! Enjoy your winter, it's going to be a cold one! (Brrrr) >:-{ Thanks!

November is here!

Posted at 02:46 PM on November 06, 2008 Comments comments (0)

So, we are getting ready for the Springfield show! We are showing a few animals! All Mini Rex! Sadly a Jr Buck of mine who is AMAZING cannot be shown due to *sssshhh* dare I say it, yes it's Split Penis!! Oh, I am going to die, he would have done SO well! :'( Anyways, I am keeping him his sister and his dam!

We decided to get out of the New Zealand's, they just seem meaner and larger and seem to pee more to me! Lol, I want to focus on my Mini Rex more, since I am doing so well in them! I am getting pretty well know! Some big time breeders are making their way to me for conversation. Of course not buying anything, but giving great tips, and basic talk! It's great!

We are selling TONS of culls at Springfield. I am tired of feeding animals I have for sale. So they are going for meat! I should only have about 30 animals after! Which is reducing my numbers by 20 or so. Which is great! Give's me more cage space!! And I need it since I am breeding about 8 Mini Rex Doe's the same day as Springfield!

Anyways stay on top of BriarWoods, we are heading in a great direction! Look for us on the Table's! BriarWoods Kasper is coming out to try and earn her last leg! Then retire to brood! Hidden Treasure's Otto is hitting the table's again, that molt he went through really helped him, his color is aok now! :P We are also bringing along BriarWoods Jell-O Anyone?, as well as BriarWoods Montana, and an undecided Jr Doe, so prepare to be surprised on that one! Oh, also you might see something else from us you would not expect! Hmm, what is that you ask? I am not sure yet, but it's coming! Hitting the table's, we shall see?

Lol, anyways, keep it hopping! :P

What a... couple days

Posted at 05:23 PM on May 15, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Ok, so we are now fostering 3 Cali kits for a friend. Pictures will be up soon. We will foster them till 6 weeks, then they will return to Betty and Ashley.

Now we are hoping every baby lives, we started out with 5, and 2 have died. So we are hoping the last 3 live.

Our foster doe is not producing enough to feed all 3, I think. So I am now hand feeding them 3 times a day! They are doing great. Getting plump in the belly. We are very exited to see how we do.

This is going to be so hard giving this litter backsad, I may just have to buy one!!

Please keeping checking back for sales, litters, new stock ect. We LOVE u all!!! Please email me with any questions or comments. Thanks.
